Zeughausmesse – Decorative Arts Fair

“The Studio has been looking after all print products for the Zeughausmesse since it started; altogether the Studio has prepared no less than 18 arts fairs for the Zeughausmesse.”

At the interface of art, design and crafts

Since 2005, a fair for products from the areas of art, crafts and design has been established in Berlin. Here exhibitors can present their latest work in the jewellery, fashion and interior design sectors in the Zeughaus (Old Arsenal) of the Deutsches Historisches Museum (German Historical Museum).

Visual identity

The visual identity of the fair was designed by the Studio. The plain logo matches the overall typography: dominant, strong capitals composed in blocks side by side. The type is combined with elements like horizontal and vertical strokes; the writing is in colour. The Zeughausmesse relies on a flexible colour system: along with the in-house colour of cyan there is a different colour for every fair that comes from the theme for each particular fair.

Publicity for the fair

The focal point of publicity for the fair is always the photo of an artist's exhibited work. For every new fair it is important to place one piece of unusual work from among the many objects on display in the spotlight. Among the publicity material shown here, a photo of ceramics by Nicole Müller was selected as a central theme or leitmotif. The combination of traditional craft art and the loud neon colours is surprising, and reflects the experimental aspirations of the Zeughausmesse.
